Early V-Day

Valentine's Day came early for me this year!

Brennen had the day off yesterday so he did a little v-day shopping.

I got my gift early because it was "alive."

My first guess was that he got me a fish for the fish tank.

I wasn't too thrilled because that's more of a gift for him...

Then I guessed a hamster, just for fun.

But it wasn't an animal.

Apparently he always gets me plants for Valentine's Day.

It's a mini-rose bush! 

How stinking smart is that?

When he brought it out, I said

"I LOVE IT!"

I'm not sure I've ever said that about a gift from him.

Not that he doesn't give great gifts.

So I'm really excited to see how long I can keep it alive.

I'm not much of a green-thumb, but I like a challenge and I love roses!

I'm bad a giving thoughtful or even good gifts, but this year

I think I've got V-Day in the bag.

Also, today I picked up this super sweet outfit at Sam's Club for a 

little mister due in May

(not me!)

I have been DYING over this cute hoodie!

I really wanted a hoodie for Tanner this winter, 

but couldn't bring myself to pay $20 for one.

And now. it's too late.

Next week high's are up to 90 degrees.

And since Tanner is 15 months and still wearing 

12 month clothes,

I have no idea what size he will be next winter.

Hi, there! 

Remember us?

Yep, we're still here.

It's been so long, I don't even really know where to start.

Well, I guess you should know that today is Ash Wednesday.

That means it's the first day of Lent.

Last year I participated in Lent by giving up social media for 40 days

(excluding Sundays).

I've decided to do that again this year.

So, no Facebook,

no Instagram,

until after Easter! I'm excited.

And I know I can do it, because I've done it before.

I'm also giving up "The Soda Shop."

It's this cute little place here that makes specialty sodas

and has the BEST sugar cookies.

I go there about 2 or 3 times a week...

so, to avoid getting diabetes, I'm giving it up until

after Easter.

Hopefully I'll remember to post more on our blog, 

even though our lives are pretty boring.

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to.

We got a new camera for graduation last year, and one of my

goals this year is to learn how to use it to take 

really good pictures.  I don't want to become a professional 

photographer or anything, just want to take professional quality photos

of our daily lives.

I have a lot of friends that are photographers and when I start to read

about shutter speed and aperture, and ISO, 

I have so must more respect for them.

Tanner LOVES the water, no matter how cold it is! 

Whenever we go to the lake, he runs right to it,

which is a parent's worst nightmare, right?!

We love to take the kayak out on the lake, and even have a little life jacket so

Tanner can come too.

He hates the life jacket, but is ok once we get on the water.

He loves spending time running around outside! His favorite things to do are:
Running into the parking lot,
picking up rocks and throwing them,
picking up rocks and eating them,
chasing birds,
and touching other people's cars.

We also bought a Zoo membership so we can go whenever we want!
Tanner is starting to love animals, so it's fun to take him to
see things other than birds and dogs.
I take a lot of pictures at the zoo too.

We also celebrated Tanner's first birthday in November.
